West Coast MCC's Communications and Executive Administrative Coordinator develops and coordinates implementation of the communications strategy for West Coast MCC. This role works to deepen constituent awareness of MCC’s programs and how constituents may get involved. Manages public relations and serves as the regional connecting point for West Coast MCC constituency, volunteers, alumni, and people in serving with MCC. In coordinating communications, this individual must be familiar with the range of resources available to tell the MCC story and the communication channels available to MCC at national/regional levels, ensuring branded communication that is timely, effective and appropriate. Provides all administrative and logistical support to the WCMCC Executive Director - include assisting with and coordinating projects, maintaining appointment schedules, managing correspondence, drafting letters and reports, editing documents, and managing electronic and paper files. Special attention will be devoted to preparation and coordination of numerous meetings. This role is responsible to make arrangements for all board meetings, including preparing and mailing all board meeting packets.

Position qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Communications, Business Administration, and/or related fields.
• 2-5 years administrative/clerical experience
• 2-3 years of communications, journalism, and/or media relations.
• Strong skills in administration and organization
• Ability to take independent initiative in managing responsibilities
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and coordinate multiple priorities with teammates simultaneously
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, experience in media relations and messaging as well as an awareness of branding
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office – including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to create power point presentations, brochures, special invitations and mailings
• Strong relational skills with diverse groups
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• May include occasional overnight travel, evening and weekend work

The person must be a self-starter with sound judgment, who is comfortable working within generally defined tasks requiring regular supervision and work reviews. The duties for this position require constant attention to details with extended periods on the computer. This person must be able to multi-task and maintain accuracy during seasonal peaks. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of MCC, good public relations and ability to communicate with board members, staff and constituency groups is required. Frequent contact with the communications network in the MCC system is required. No direct supervision of staff or volunteers.
MCC Major Responsibilities: 50% Executive Director Support 50% Communications Tasks: Regional communications coordination – 50% • Serve as primary writer for West Coast MCC. Write news releases, newsletter articles and social media posts, as well additional content for mcc.org and email marketing campaigns. • Manage West Coast MCC content on MCC U.S. website. • Produce West Coast news stories and occasional national stories. • Create, customize and distribute West Coast broadcast emails (including monthly customization of electronic editions of In Touch). • Prepare occasional printed materials for West Coast MCC working with MCC visual standards with occasional external graphic design support. Develop web and social media materials specific to West Coast region. • Develop opportunities for and give public presentations to promote MCC. • Provide primary connection to regional media outlets for West Coast region (in collaboration with MCC US Communications). • Update West Coast MCC regional staff of new resources. • Coordinate the West Coast MCC communications strategic plan in consultation with the regional West Coast MCC Executive Director and U.S. Communications Director. Monitor and evaluate regularly. • Participate in the MCC U.S. Communications Network as the West Coast MCC representative, and relate regularly with the MCC U.S. Communications Director. • Assist in coordination of West Coast MCC events and represent MCC at conferences and events. Executive Director support/assistance - 50% • Assist Executive Director with meetings, travel and contacts • Research and prepare correspondence, reports and materials for presentations • Set up travel arrangements for Executive Director • Maintain Executive Director's calendar which includes providing information for regional events and activities within the constituency • Set up and coordinate meetings and conferences and attend as representative of Executive Director as necessary • Create, transcribe and distribute meeting agendas and minutes as necessary • Maintain and strengthen relationships with institutional and denominational leaders within the WCMCC constituency • Make preparations for bi-annual board meetings • Connect as necessary with admi
