GET-IT Connection Summit - Tuesday, November 17th

The GET-IT Connection Summit is specifically designed to provide female high school students with insights into technology innovations, technology careers and technology education options as well as build skills necessary for college admissions and college success. We have an inspiring keynote speaker, several skill building breakout sessions (college essay writing, internships, personal networking and preparing for college admission during high school), and a panel of female technology executives who will speak to the girls. Lunch will be provided. During lunch, the girls will have an opportunity to speak directly with a female technology professional, female technology student (current MCWT Scholarship recipients), or both in their virtual breakout room.
Students should rank order their Breakout Session requests in order of preference from 1 to 4. Students are not guaranteed their first choice selection.

Breakout Session Descriptions:
  • Acing Your College Essay - This interactive workshop will leave you with a solid outline for a college essay that will make your application stand out. With the University of Michigan's holistic admissions process, your college essays are a huge part of how you tell the story of why you deserve to attend a world class institution. The process can be daunting, but we will work together to decide what you'll write about and your next steps.
  • How to Prepare for College Admission during High School - Are you stressing over not being ready to apply for college? This session is for you! A guest from the University of Michigan Undergraduate Admissions will tell you what you need to do.
  • Understanding Internships - Internships are a great way to get work experience and hands on training in the industry you are interested in as well as the opportunity to make valuable professional connections. Join us for this session to learn about the benefits of an internship, internship opportunities, and the opportunity to talk with participants of internships.
  • • Personal Networking - Learn the importance of networking and how-to build your personal brand using LinkedIn and other methods. Open discussion with University of Michigan, MCWT and LinkedIn representatives.

After you "Add" your participant(s) information, a " Continue Registration " button will appear at the bottom of the screen. Registration is not finished until you have clicked " Complete Registration " and received a "Thank you for registering!" screen.
