Let Justice flow from our communities, from our conference and to our nation.

Amos 5:24 But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never failing stream!

The NCNC UCC invites you to a Justice Revival on Saturday January 26, 2019 from 8 AM to 5 PM. This years keynote speaker is the Reverend Traci Blackmon. There will be praise and worship, preaching and teaching, as well as workshops and activities for youth. Workshops will be based on the following:

The Danger of the Single Story: A Conversation for White Liberal Christians

As white liberal Christians we sometimes forget that our story and the dominant narrative of society are the same. We forget that there are people in the world who have their own narrative and are forced to understand and live out of the narrative that is society's narrative. Through deep listening and conversation, we can begin to understand with our heart what we already know in our head and that can change the way we look and move in the world. This workshop will focus on the Doctor of Ministry Thesis Diane is preparing for her program at Chicago Theological Seminary. Read Diane Weible’s bio here…

A conversation on Mass incarceration

This engaging workshop will be a conversation about the prison system and what we as people of faith can do to not only stand up against the revolving door of incarceration, but the systematic way in which prisons are racist as well. You will also hear about how congregations might help those who are inside prison. Read Sophia Jackson's bio here...

Serving our LGBT Teens
This workshop will help participants think critically about the need for a non-religious LGBT youth group in their congregation. Despite the fact that the world is becoming more inclusive to LGBT people, there is still a dire need for LGBT teens to have safe spaces where they can process their experience and create a safe space for them all to tell their own stories. Pastor Casey will provide testimony to his experience working with these teens and will provide you with the best practices so that a congregation could help teens not only have a place to speak about the truth of their lives, but also have a positive place to meet friends and grow in relationship.
