Description:
EVENT IS FULL
Come celebrate beautiful Sonoma Mountain on this park-to-park adventure!
Enjoy a supported one-way hike across the Bay Area Ridge Trail connecting the North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park and Open Space Preserve in Santa Rosa to Jack London State Historic Park in Glen Ellen. Many organizations have been key in a long-term conservation effort that so far has preserved over 5,500 acres around Sonoma Mountain and created a new trail and open space preserve that make it possible to traverse the entire mountain.
The Hike: Join us for a 9-mile, nearly 2000ft elevation gain hike which is moderately strenuous and will take on average 4 - 5 hours to complete. We will meet at Jack London State Historic Park. Hikers will catch a shuttle at 8:30AM or 10:30AM, which will take you to the trailhead at Jacob’s Ranch (North Sonoma Mountain Regional Park). We’ll have hike leaders and sweeps along the way.
During the hike you’ll get stunning views along the way of Sonoma Valley and the peaks surrounding you: nearby Taylor Mountain, the Mayacamas to the east, and Coastal mountains in the west. Head downhill through Jack London State Historic Park for snacks and drinks in the picnic area!
What we provide for the hike:
Note on Fitness: Please be honest about your physical abilities in completing a hike of this difficulty in the average time of 4 - 5 hours. Experience completing a similar hike before this one is required.
Camping: Join us for this special one-time camping opportunity at Sonoma Mountain on Saturday before the hike on Sunday. Camping includes a catered dinner, ranger night hike, and more. Simple breakfast provided on Sunday morning before the hike. Sunday morning you will drive to Jack London to pick up the 10:30am shuttle to start the hike. You will provide your own camping equipment.
