The Irish Heart Foundation is the national charity fighting heart disease and stroke, funded 92 per cent by public donations.
Our vision is that every person living in Ireland will live a long, active and healthy life free from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease.
Our mission is to lead in improving the cardiovascular health of people living in Ireland so they do not experience disability or die from preventable heart, stroke and other blood vessel diseases.
What's Involved
The Irish Heart Foundation Patient Support Services are looking to recruit a panel of Group Volunteers. They are ideally looking for people who can commit to a minimum of 2 hours every month in face to face Stroke Support Group meetings.
You will be supporting our Stroke Coordinators to help set up the rooms, making sure all Health and Safety, and hygiene protocols have been adhered to. You may help set up chairs, tables, tea and coffees where necessary, mingle with the members and help tidy the room afterwards. You may need to assist Members from their car into the venue.
Some volunteers like to get involved in weekly exercise, activities such as board games, quizzes, cards, art/crafts etc.
What's required for this position
Experience working with Vulnerable Adults/Stroke Survivors is an advantage.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of Covid-19 Protocols/hygiene.
A sense of humour and patience.
A good motivator who will encourage participation.
