About Irish Girl Guides North East Region
We are a youth-driven, dynamic organisation offering a varied and exciting programme for girls and young women aged 5-30, and opportunities for women of all ages.
As a girl-only movement, girls are free to develop and express themselves in a safe, comfortable, supported setting.
What's Involved
Guiding is an opportunity – it gives you the chance as an adult to help the next generation to learn to live and grow into adults equipped to cope with the joys, the anxieties, the fears and the demands of life. Guiding encourages the best in us as it gives us the opportunity to discover new ideas, new skills, new experiences and new friendships.
There is a place for everyone in IGG and there are many different roles that you can take up that suit your availability and your skill set.
What's required for this position
IGG seeks to involve suitable adult volunteers who share the ethos and values of our organisation and have an interest in the development of girls and young women. IGG welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities to work as Leaders or Unit Helpers with our different age groups which we call Branches – Ladybird, Brownie, Guide and Senior Branch.
IGG provides a non-formal educational programme in the Republic of Ireland that is dynamic and flexible while offering values-based training in lifeskills, decision-making and leadership. Our Leaders all work in a voluntary capacity and are trained to implement our programme in which the needs of the individual girl are a priority. These volunteers are supported by our National Office staff and our Regional Development Officers.
Through training and mentoring, new Leaders become familiar with the Guide programme. Spirituality, standards of personal behaviour, care for individuals and enthusiasm are part of every activity.
