What's Involved

COPE Fairgreen Hostel is a 26 bedroom hostel which provides emergency and short term accommodation for men experiencing homelessness. The aim of the service is to provide a quality service that endeavours to meet the individual needs of its clients.

The role is to assist the Chef in the kitchen and the kitchen duties which includes: • Carry out duties with due regard to cleanliness under the guidance provided in accordance with HACCP (food safety management system) and EIQA (Excellence Ireland quality assurance) programme standards at all times.
• Manage food waste, general waste & recycling refuse.
• Wash pots and pans crockery, cutlery and utensils
Volunteers are needed between 4pm-6pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday
• The volunteer will receive an induction prior to starting the role
• Volunteer will be supervised by the Head Chef
• Required training for this role will be available

What's required for this position

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ideally they will have experience of working in a commercial kitchen
• Flexible approach to role
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to achieve performance criteria, with particular regard to hygiene
• Positive approach to learning in role
• Self-motivated
Expectations:
• The volunteer conducts him/herself in a professional manner and maintains a respectful and courteous manner
• The volunteer will maintain confidentiality in respect of all matters which come to their knowledge in the course of the volunteer role
• Garda Clearance must be completed along with a volunteer application form before commencing placement.
