Shmita: Release & Repair, 2 Part Series
Part 1 - Shmita: Release, Repair & Reparations in Our Lives
2/28/21
How are Shmita* and Reparations** inter-connected? How can we draw inspiration from these 2 subversive concepts as diasporic Jews living in occupied America in 2021? Through text learning, storytelling and personal reflection, we will explore these concepts and how they can support the integration of Jewish tradition, healing, and work for liberation in our own lives.
Part 2 - Shmita: Release & Repair, an Exploration Through Song
3/7/21
Join Sol Yael Weiss from Linke Fligl for a session that uses song to explore the values behind Shmita* and Reparations**. In this circle, we will use the tool of song to open ourselves up to the work of release and repair. How are these two in relation to each other? How are they both essential to the change we hope for in our own lives and in the world? We will spend most of the session singing songs that dive into each concept, and we will learn about using song as a tool that heals, shapes, regulates, and creates new pathways.

About The Facilitator
Sol lives, prays, and farms on Schaghticoke Mahican land as part of the core team at Linke Fligl, a queer Jewish chicken farm and cultural organizing project in Millerton, NY. They are a non-binary trans white Ashkenazi printmaker, illustrator and organizational development nerd who finds nourishment in catching songs, building queer family and dreaming of a rematriated land-based collective future. As part of their work with Linke Fligl, they facilitate communal experiences of liberatory Jewish ritual and anti-colonial land connection. Sol's work is guided by their inquiry into what ecology, community and tradition can teach us about overcoming oppressive systems, healing and building new worlds. Learn more about Linke Fligl here, about Sol's work here, and listen to their music here.
